Behavioural team
Established in October 2006, this specialist team provides a multi-disciplinary approach to behavioural analysis. Headed up by the psychology department, the team consists of experts in NAPPI (Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention), TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children), and instructors accredited by the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD). Also included on the team is the company's Protection of Vulnerable Adults representative.
Residents are often referred to the team following a change in their behaviours, such as an increase in aggressive or sexualised behaviour, or changes in circumstance, such as bereavement. All referrals are processed by the team, whose members will assess each individual case and formulate appropriate interventions. Some referrals may require an integrated approach from the various specialist areas of the behavioural team members.
The team may also be involved in the delivery of training packages to staff across the company, according to the needs identified during the referral and review process.
