Autism Care (UK): NAPPI

NAPPI

Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) enables our staff to recognise and manage behaviours related to anxiety. This trains them to recognise agitation at the earliest possible sign, so they can intervene to prevent an escalation in behaviour. NAPPI identifies the meaningful activities of each individual and uses these to prevent an incident of inappropriate behaviour. It is also a valuable tool to ensure every Autism Care (UK) Limited home has a positive, safe and enjoyable environment.

NAPPI provides the carer with a way of reading the meanings behind an individual's communications and behaviours. It gives the appropriate proactive and reactive strategies and a method for positive interaction with that person. The objective in each case is to minimise the anxieties felt by the individual.
