The Paddocks
The Paddocks opened on 1st July 2009. It is a purpose built home specifically for females with Autism spectrum disorders, associated Learning Disabilities and related challenging behaviour; as well as supporting some individuals with epilepsy. The Paddocks provides specialist support for 7 female adults with varying needs. Although The Paddocks is registered and run as one home, it has been uniquely separated into two living areas; with each side personally catering for the type of client in that particular environment. It is due to this that The Paddocks can approach and support a wide variety of complex behavioural needs in one home. The Paddocks utilizes various methods of communication including TEACCH and Makaton to meet the differing needs of each service user.
The Paddocks has a light and open feel. The East Wing houses 3 bedrooms, large open dining room, kitchen and spacious lounge. The West wing comprises of 4 bedrooms, shower room, large kitchen and a large dining/lounge area; with both sides having large bathrooms and laundry rooms. Service users in The Paddocks also benefit from having their own en suite in every bedroom. There is a choice of single and double beds - depending on the needs of the individual - which are decorated according to the personal taste of each resident.
The Paddocks carries out activities in a variety of different locations, including the on-site day facilities home The Oaks. Timetables are created with the service users needs and abilities in mind in order to provide each individual with the best opportunity to lead a structured, fun and developing life.
