In an independent or supported living environment, our key aims are to promote independence as well as social interaction and inclusion. Fundamental to this is the help offered by our staff to developing life skills within their homes.

• Promoting Independence

Our person centred approach involves working our tenants at a pace that's suitable to their level of ability, involving them at every stage of the process. Our staff encourage services users to complete tasks with minimal support, or initiate new tasks with a high level of support which will then be scaled down over time.

• Social Interaction

By accessing the community on a regular basis, our aim is to help the tenant develop the necessary interaction skills and a greater level of social understanding and competence. With this in mind we encourage and assist them to partake in activities within the community. This may include joining a gym, a club, starting a college course, visiting local attractions or commencing a form of employment, be it voluntary or paid.

• Life skills in the home

Another crucial aspect of our work involves the development of life skills in the home

These skills might involve the successful completion of household chores, the cooking and preparation of meals, the paying of household bills, gardening and a development in understanding household safety.

This is a service that enables adults within the autistic spectrum to receive qualitative support in the places they live, work and relax. The aim is to support these individuals in developing the living skills needed to make the transition from residential homes to independent or supported living within the local community. In addition, Outreach provides much needed assistance to the family and carers

As with all our services, Outreach is 'person centered' and takes the form of individual support packages that reflect not only the specific needs of the person but also their wishes and aspirations. We aim to provide a 24 hour service wherever necessary whether the person is living with family, carers or at home as an owner or tenant.
