Our staff
We are dedicated to the personal development and training of our employees. All new members of staff undergo an extensive induction programme and must attend courses on four additional levels of autism-specific training. These include:
- A: an introduction to autistic spectrum disorders, which provides an overview of the condition, its history and explains how it can affect individuals
- B: an exploration of sensory experiences relating to autism
- C&D: an exploration into the importance of coping strategies in day-to-day lives. These levels also look at theories relating to the condition and the different interventions used.
The induction training also includes Learning Disability Qualification (LDQ) units, two days of Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) training and a comprehensive programme of mandatory training. The majority of these units are delivered by our own on-site qualified trainers.
When appropriate, we offer our employees external courses, including autism-related specialties, e.g. sensory issues. We also support staff to obtain relevant National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
