Part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group

The quality of the services we provide is directly attributable to the personal qualities, knowledge and abilities of the staff we employ. Ours is a specialist field in which new ideas and practices are constantly arising. Personal development and training is therefore a vital means of expanding our thinking and skills, driving our standards ever higher and extending our range of services.
All new members of staff undergo an extensive induction programme and a further 4 levels of autism specific training.
Level 1 gives an introduction to ASD. It aims to give an overview of what autism is and how it can affect individual lives.
Level 2 aims to make staff aware of who first identified autism and Asperger Syndrome and what led them to research this area.
Levels 3 & 4 dicuss how the nature of ASD can impact on the lives of people and how carers can support people to develop coping strategies to deal with everyday issues. They also look at the theories relating to ASD and look at the strategies and interventions used with care services.
Induction training also includes LDAF units (Learning Disability Awards Framework), two days of NAPPI Training (Non Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention) delivered by our own on-site qualified trainers and a comprehensive programme of mandatory training.
In addition, we offer external courses including ASD related specialities e.g. sensory issues and Higher Education ASD qualifications. We also provide those staff who are suitably committed the support they need to obtain an NVQ qualification.
