Autism Care provide community supported living solutions to people with a wide variety of needs in Milton Keynes.
The needs of the service users we support are diverse therefore we carry out initial assessments of the individuals to determine the level of support they require. Within these assessments and in addition to their Autism, health and risk assessment we are able to identify what therapies and interventions they will benefit from; the activities meaningful to them; what their emerging skills may be and how to develop these in the most valuable way.
To ensure every service user gains the maximum potential from the services on offer, personal profiling of staff is developed. This will identify which staff members have the skill sets to match the needs of each individual. Support packages are then designed around the need of the individual ensuring that families of those we support are involved in this process and encouraged to give their opinions.
Formal assessment is complimented by an All About Me session which invites friends and family of the individual to present information to the staff who are going to be supporting the individual. This enables the staff to learn about the individual in a very person centred way, reinforcing the individual value of the person they will be supporting, along with allowing the family and the individual to maintain personal choice and control of their lives.
What the service users say:
"We all sit down together and plan a meal menu and if we do not like the food, we can pick an alternative. When family and friends visit, they are always made to feel welcome."
